Common questions

What HRC class do I need for arc-flash work?

HRC selection follows the incident energy of the task per AS/NZS 4836 and the worksite arc-flash hazard assessment. Common selections: HRC2 (8.6 cal/cm²) for everyday LV switching such as 415 V distribution boards; HRC4 (40 cal/cm²) for higher-energy switching and HV operations. If you don't have an assessment, talk to your safety advisor — selecting the right class is a legal duty.

Class 0 vs Class 00 insulated gloves?

Class 00 gloves are rated for use up to 500 V AC. Class 0 gloves are rated for use up to 1000 V AC. Both must be electrically retested every 6 months in service per AS/NZS 2225 and inspected before each use.

Do I need a pole-top rescue kit in NSW?

Yes — under NSW utility safety rules and Service & Installation Rules, anyone working at height on energised conductors must have a pole-top rescue kit accessible and a trained operator on site. Our KIT-PTR-NSW is sized and configured specifically to comply.

How often do insulated mats and sticks need testing?

Insulated mats and hot sticks both require electrical retesting every 6 months in service (per AS/NZS 2225 and AS/NZS 5577 guidance). ARCK can quote on send-out testing or on full replacement.

Do you supply complete arc-flash PPE bundles?

Yes — Volt Safety supplies HRC2 and HRC4 kits as complete bundles (jacket, bib, hood, gloves) sized S through XL. Email sales@arckelectrical.com.au for a bundled quote or call our North Parramatta trade counter.
